About this webcam

The live weather webcam looks onto the Puente Nuevo, the emblem of Ronda, and down into the El Tajo gorge. The mighty arches of the stone bridge span the chasm, at the bottom of which the Río Guadalevín flows far below; in the central pier you can make out the small window of the chamber that once served, among other things, as a prison. On the left the white houses of the old town stand right at the edge of the cliff, and on the viewing terrace by the bridgehead the visitors crowd together. Ronda lies at around 750 metres altitude in the Serranía de Ronda and is one of the most visited towns in Andalusia. The gorge divides the town into two halves: the Moorish-influenced old town of La Ciudad and the younger El Mercadillo, home to the famous 18th-century bullring. The Puente Nuevo was completed in 1793 after decades of construction and has connected the two sides ever since, around a hundred metres above the river. Through the camera you can see what the weather is like in the mountains of the province of Málaga: whether the sun is lighting up the rock faces, clouds are gathering over the Serranía or haze hangs in the gorge. Ronda lies considerably higher than the coast – hotter here in summer, noticeably cooler in winter. We also show the readings from the Ronda weather station along with the hourly forecast and current weather warnings.
