Weather Malaga - Thunderstorms, heavy rain and flash floods

Cold drop (DANA) brings severe weather conditions this weekend

Meteorological autumn begins on September 1st. Just in time, a cold drop is building up on the Iberian Peninsula. In Spain we call this DANA. This means that the cold air from the north will meet warm and humid air and accordingly there will be locally intense thunderstorms, heavy rain and flash floods at the weekend.

Costa del Sol - Malaga Province

The Costa del Sol is particularly affected by drought this year. The late and insufficient rainfall in June was unable to fill the reservoirs and so the situation is now very tense. There are already numerous restrictions to save water.

When and where there will be rain is not yet really clear. Our running hourly forecast from our GFS and ICON models predicts 50mm of rain for Malaga. This would be a start, even if the completely dried out soils cannot absorb much of it.

We operate 21 live weather cams and weather stations on the Costa del Sol. With our weather in real time and the current hourly forecast, updated 4 times a day, you won´t miss a thing.
