Starting Friday, it's going to be hot on the Costa del Sol.
Terral, as the hot wind from the hinterland is called here in Malaga, will take over. On Friday, we expect a high of 39°C in the provincial capital of Malaga, followed by 37°C on Saturday, 36°C on Sunday, and 37°C again on Monday.
Fortunately, the water temperature has returned to normal; the Malaga buoy is currently reporting a refreshing 20.5°C.
Terral usually occurs when cold air masses advance from the Atlantic to the Iberian Peninsula. This then pushes the hot air from Extremadura, Seville, and Córdoba toward the Costa del Sol. This is clearly evident in Badajoz, where highs fluctuate between 29°C and 32°C until Monday. Noticeably lower than in Malaga.
In Santiago de Compostela, the maximum temperatures are only 20 °C to 23 °C.
