71 Weather Stations Report Temperatures Above 40°C

Spain's fourth heatwave of 2026 continues to show no mercy. On the second day of this exceptional heatwave, extreme temperatures were once again recorded across much of the Iberian Peninsula.

An incredible 71 weather stations recorded maximum temperatures of 40°C or higher today, while another 89 weather stations reported highs between 39.0°C and 39.9°C. The highest temperatures were measured in Cáseda (42.4°C), Arroyo del Ojanco (42.3°C), Quinto (42.1°C) and Granada Airport (42.1°C).

Large parts of inland Spain remained under a blazing sun. Across extensive areas of Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Aragón, Andalusia and the inland areas of the Valencia region, maximum temperatures were widely between 41°C and 42°C.

Meanwhile, the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts once again enjoyed a perfect summer beach day. Temperatures generally ranged between 29°C and 33°C, including 32.9°C in Marbella, 31.8°C in Benidorm, 31.0°C in Cartagena and 33.0°C in Palma de Mallorca. The only downside in many coastal areas was the high humidity, which made the heat feel even more intense.

Conditions remained much more comfortable along Spain's northern Atlantic coast, where 23.8°C was recorded in A Coruña, 25.2°C in Santiago de Compostela and 27.0°C in Bilbao.

Anyone currently spending their holiday in Spain should continue to drink plenty of water, avoid the intense midday sun and enjoy the pleasantly warm summer evenings.
