Passenger numbers at Malaga Airport are rising rapidly

Malaga Airport reports new record numbers in June

Malaga Airport reported a total of 2,632,386 passengers in June 2025, an increase of 8.2% compared to June 2024.

In the first half of 2025, Malaga Airport reported a total of 12,394,682 passengers, an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period in 2024.

It is therefore very likely that Malaga Airport will surpass the magic 25 million passenger mark this year.

Accordingly, the announcement that airport operator AENA intends to significantly expand the airport is not surprising. The company aims to be prepared for 30 to 35 million passengers in the coming years.

Malaga Airport is thus ranked fourth among the busiest airports in Spain. Madrid is in first place, followed by Barcelona and Mallorca.

Looking at the growth figures, it's worth keeping an eye on Valencia and Alicante. Valencia grew by 8.9% in June 2025, reporting 1,079,810 passengers. Alicante achieved an increase of 8.4% in June 2025, recording 1,921,706 passengers.
