British, German, and Dutch people love the Costa del Sol

Record: Over 2.6 million passengers in April 2026

Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport records more than 7.7 million passengers and 53,877 operations in the first four months of the year

Between January and April, passenger numbers increased by 7.4% and aircraft movements rose by 4.8% compared to the same period in 2025.

Last month, 2,613,939 passengers travelled on nearly 17,700 flights.

More than 7.7 million passengers travelled on almost 53,900 flights through Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport during the first four months of this year. Specifically, between January and April, the airport handled 7,706,614 passengers (+7.4%) and 53,877 aircraft movements (+4.8%). This positive performance was driven by strong growth in both domestic and international traffic.

Of the 7,690,462 passengers travelling on commercial flights, 1,350,525 flew on routes within Spain (+9.5%), while 6,339,937 passengers (+7%) travelled on international flights.

Regarding international traffic, the markets with the highest demand during the first four months of the year were the United Kingdom (1,598,401 passengers), followed by Germany (577,285), the Netherlands (460,499), and Italy (383,182).

In terms of commercial operations, the Málaga airport infrastructure managed 53,015 aircraft movements so far this year: 41,277 international flights (+5.8%) and 11,738 domestic flights (+2.9%).

Traffic in April

The growth recorded during the first four months of the year was further supported by strong traffic figures in April, when 2,613,939 passengers passed through Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport, which handled 17,681 take-offs and landings. These figures represent increases of 9.5% in passenger numbers and 6.7% in aircraft movements compared with April 2025.

The majority of passengers last month travelled on commercial flights, totalling 2,611,383 travellers. Of these, 413,120 flew on routes to or from Spanish cities (+12.9%), while 2,198,263 passengers chose international connections (+9%). Among the latter, 603,726 passengers travelled to or from the United Kingdom, 199,097 connected with Germany, and 156,986 travelled between Málaga and the Netherlands.

As for aircraft movements last month, of the total 17,681 operations recorded, 17,464 corresponded to commercial flights: 3,470 domestic (+6.6%) and 13,994 international (+7.6%).
