About us

Living and working in Málaga

meteo365.es is a financially and politically completely independent family business — run by the German couple Maren and Thomas.

Our promise

Our logo shows a lighthouse — and that is exactly how we see meteo365.es: as a point of orientation in the weather. When the weather changes fast, when rain cells build up, the wind turns or a thunderstorm forms, our weather maps should give a clear signal. Not loud, not complicated, but reliable, up to date and easy to understand.

One signal is enough. If it is the right one. meteo365.es — weather in real time.

Who we areGerman perfectionists under the Andalusian sun

We live and work in Málaga, Andalusia — right where Terral, Taró, Poniente, Levante, Saharan dust and Mediterranean waves write new stories every day. Out of this weather stage, one of the world's leading platforms for interactive weather maps has grown over the years: meteo365.es.

meteo365.es is a product of MAWE MEDIAONLINE, S.L.U. (founded in August 2017) — a mid-sized family business with a big ambition: real-time weather, precise forecasts, honest data sources, weather maps everyone can understand. No clickbait, no pop-ups, no bought-in off-the-shelf API. Instead, our own tile renderer, our own nowcast algorithm and cleanly prepared model data.

Why we do itWeather is personal — and it should feel that way too

Nothing accompanies our daily life as constantly as the weather. Sunshine, rain, storm or heat — millions of people check the forecast every day, plan their day around it or follow the latest developments.

That is exactly why we built meteo365.es: a platform that makes weather understandable, up to date and something you can experience with passion.

How we workBuilt ourselves. From the raw data source to the finished weather map

Behind our weather map runs a powerful data platform. Specialised processes compute model forecasts such as ICON from the DWD and GFS from the USA, process radar data from several countries, analyse earthquakes in real time and track tropical cyclones worldwide. All the information comes together in Málaga, is prepared in our own rendering pipeline and delivered to your device within seconds.

Our unique strength lies in the intelligent and rapid processing of this data: from the automated pipeline through rendering to our own nowcast and visualisation systems.

What we promiseReliable — and honest when something does go wrong

Continuous monitoring watches all data sources and services around the clock. This lets us spot problems early and, in many cases, react before they become visible to our users.

Even though we place great value on reliability, technical faults can never be entirely ruled out. Not every outage originates in our own infrastructure — external data sources, networks or servers can be affected too.

Working with authorities and emergency services

When the weather turns critical, police and emergency services rely on meteo365.es too.

The Confederación de la Seguridad Local y Autónomos (CSLA), which unites the unions of local police and fire services with more than 22,000 members, works to improve security resources across the country. Its Secretary General, Óscar Camacho, visited the meteo365.es headquarters to learn about its technology.

During the destructive DANA last autumn I used meteo365.es intensively. The forecasts and the precipitation radar with NowCast were decisive. My visit confirms that the team around Maren Becker is doing great work. It shows that innovations from the private sector can be implemented quickly.

Behind the scenes

A few impressions from everyday life

What matters to us

Three principles we let ourselves be measured by

Transparency

Every data source is named. If something is an estimate, we say so. If something comes from a model, the model is stated above it.

Speed

Maps should run smoothly — on mobile too, even on a slow connection. That is why we have our own renderer, our own tiles, our own caches.

Independence

We rely on a multi-model approach. No vendor lock-in, no single data provider, no hidden dependency on a commercial API.
