Every weather model has its strengths: one is better on the large scale, another is more precise in the detail, a third specialises in waves or air quality. That is why meteo365.es runs several models in parallel. You can switch, compare — and instantly see what each model says.

First the basicsWhat a weather model actually is

A weather model computes the atmosphere like a giant chessboard. It divides the world into grid cells (e.g. 13 km × 13 km), fills each cell with current measurements (temperature, pressure, wind, humidity) and then steps the equations of physics forward into the future. The smaller the grid, the finer the forecast — but the more computing power it needs.

Global models (ICON-Global, GFS) compute the whole planet, often at ~13–30 km resolution. Regional models (ICON-EU at ~6 km, ARPEGE at ~11 km, ICON-D2 at ~2 km) zoom into a section at a much finer resolution — right down to convection-resolving, so individual thunderstorm cells become visible. Specialist models handle just one aspect — waves, air quality or the ocean.

Behind the scenesHow a new model run reaches you

The weather services recompute their models several times a day at fixed times. As soon as a new run is available we fetch it automatically and prepare it for the map — nobody has to start anything by hand. As a rule you can see it here a few minutes after it is published.

There is nothing for you to do: when a new run arrives, the map says so on its own, and one click brings you up to date. The forecast for a single place is ready straight away, too.
