Data sources
Where our data comes from
Good forecasts need good data. meteo365.es combines public and institutional sources with our own processing and a map we render ourselves. Here is an open account of where everything comes from — and who deserves the credit.
Our sources in detail
Grouped by areaMap & base data
- MapLibre GL JS — the open-source engine we use to render our maps ourselves.
- OpenStreetMap — the basis of our map. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL); licensed and processed by us.
- Natural Earth — country and coastline outlines (public domain).
- IGN España — detailed geodata for Spain.
- Copernicus GLO-30 — elevation data for terrain and hillshading.
- GEBCO — ocean depths (bathymetry).
Weather models
- DWD — ICON-Global, ICON-EU, ICON-D2 and the wave model EWAM.
- Météo-France — ARPEGE.
- NOAA / NCEP — GFS and the wave model gfswave.
- Copernicus Atmosphere (CAMS) — air quality, aerosols, smoke.
- Copernicus Marine (CMEMS) — marine data.
- Our own computation — we compute the nowcast and the fire danger (FWI) ourselves from these models.
Radar
- National weather services — the Europe radar mosaic comes from the national weather services: AEMET (Spain, incl. the Canaries), DWD (Germany), Météo-France (France), Met Office (United Kingdom), Protezione Civile (Italy), IPMA (Portugal, incl. the Azores and Madeira), IMGW (Poland), ČHMÚ (Czechia), HungaroMet (Hungary), ANM (Romania) and FMI (Finland).
- NOAA — US radar mosaic MRMS.
Satellite
- EUMETSAT — European weather satellites (Meteosat) and the derived NWCSAF cloud products.
- NOAA — GOES satellites for the Americas.
Observations & stations
- WMO / national services — SYNOP station data (incl. DWD, AEMET) via the WMO network.
- METAR / TAF — aviation weather reports from airports worldwide, provided by NOAA’s Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov).
- Our own weather stations — 17 stations in southern Spain.
