The quake was felt across León, Asturias and Galicia, as far as Vigo, Lugo and Gijón.

On 15 October 2026 at 22:34 local time (20:34 UTC), a magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred in the El Bierzo comarca. According to Spain's Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), the epicentre lay southeast of Priaranza del Bierzo, in the province of León, close to Ponferrada. With a focal depth near the surface (around 0 kilometres), the quake was very shallow.

The IGN puts the maximum intensity at IV to V on the macroseismic scale. The tremor was therefore felt over a wide area - not only across León, but also in Asturias and Galicia, reaching as far as Vigo, Lugo and Gijón.
