Two cloud layers over Benalmádena, moving in different directions

Low clouds from the south (warm, moist) and high clouds from the northwest (cold): the ingredient for instability.

This timelapse from our webcam in Benalmádena shows something fascinating: two layers of clouds moving in different directions. The low clouds come in from the south, carrying warm, moist air from the Mediterranean, while the high clouds advance from the northwest, with colder air aloft. Warm and moist below, cold above: exactly the ingredient that fuels atmospheric instability.
