Weather Costa del Sol - Floods and landslides
The first weekend of 2026 was hit hard by Storm Francis on the Costa del Sol (Malaga province).

On Sunday, a RED weather warning was issued for Malaga province. Mobile phones were activated twice by emergency sirens. Numerous roads were closed due to flooding and landslides. In Cartama, the Guadalhorce River reached a level of 504 cm on Sunday evening.

Estepona 173 mm, La Zagaleta 151 mm (Benahavis), Ojen 161 mm, Los Reales 192 mm, Las Millanas 194 mm, Casarabonela 179 mm and Coin 114 mm.
Gale-force winds of 65 km/h were recorded at Malaga Airport.
