Weather in Spain - Heatwave brings daily highs of 44°C
According to the latest ICON-EU forecast, a prolonged period of intense heat is about to grip much of Spain. Day by day, temperatures continue to rise, with the hottest conditions expected from Tuesday through Wednesday.

Sunday The heatwave gets underway. Temperatures climb to 42°C in Badajoz, 41°C in Córdoba and Plasencia, 40°C in Toledo, and around 39°C in Ciudad Real. Even Madrid is forecast to reach 37°C.
Monday The hot air spreads further north and east. 43°C is possible in Badajoz, 42°C in Córdoba, 41°C in Lleida, 40°C in Zaragoza, Toledo and Seville. Along the Mediterranean coast it remains hot, but sea breezes keep places like Benidorm (32°C) and Barcelona (31°C) slightly cooler.
Tuesday The heat intensifies further. Córdoba could reach a scorching 44°C, while Lleida climbs to 43°C and Zaragoza to 42°C. Much of central and southern Spain will experience 39–42°C, making this one of the hottest days of the year so far.
Wednesday The extreme heat continues with 44°C again in Córdoba, 43°C in Zaragoza, Lleida and Badajoz, and 41°C in Murcia and Toledo. Many inland regions will remain well above 40°C, while coastal areas stay comparatively cooler thanks to the Mediterranean.
What to expect The highest temperatures will affect Andalusia, Extremadura, Castilla-La Mancha, Aragón and parts of Catalonia. Tropical nights will become increasingly common, with little cooling after sunset.
Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
