Malaga is and remains a booming city
When we decided to move from Marbella to Malaga in 2013, many people called us crazy. Marbella, the jet set, and the rich and beautiful. Malaga, the ugly provincial capital where only the airport matters.

But even back then, we had the feeling that Malaga would become the booming city of the Mediterranean, and that's exactly what happened. Airport expansion, a new port, a completely renovated city center, fiber optic and 5G connections everywhere, etc. Today, Malaga is one of the most popular and expensive cities in Europe.
Malaga has become the flagship of the Costa del Sol, and the boom isn't slowing down. The current passenger numbers at Malaga Airport for May 2025 are once again breaking all records.
According to airport operator AENA, Malaga Airport recorded a total of 2,584,681 passengers in May 2025, an increase of 8.7% compared to May 2024. From January to May, 9,762,297 passengers were recorded, an increase of 7.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
If these figures continue, Malaga Airport will surpass the magical 25 million passenger mark this year.
