Malaga Airport is booming, Mallorca is losing ground

The passenger numbers for July 2025 are in and contain a big surprise. Mallorca, the favorite island of Germans and Britons, is reporting a decline in passengers. Mallorca reported a total of 4,594,987 passengers in July 2025, a decrease of 0.1% compared to July 2024.

In contrast, Malaga Airport reported a significant increase in passenger numbers in July 2025. 2,866,642 passengers represent an increase of 7.8% compared to July 2024.

Malaga is thus in fourth place in July 2025 behind Mallorca, Barcelona, and Madrid.

Andalusia:

The new flight connections with Granada are not yet having an impact. Granada reported a total of 86,893 passengers in July 2025, a decrease of 9.7% compared to July 2024.

In Almería, the new flight connections resulted in an increase of 4.2%. Almería reported a total of 96,374 passengers in July 2025.

Things are not looking so good for Jerez de la Frontera Airport, however. Here, the new flight connections brought 101,588 passengers, a decrease of 0.2%.

Seville remained stable at 761,070 passengers, an increase of 0.1%.

Period January 2025 to July 2025

All airports in Spain reported a combined total of 183,367,562 passengers, an increase of 4.1% compared to 2024.

Madrid ranks first with 38.8 million passengers, up 2.6%. Barcelona follows in second place with 32.8 million passengers, up 4%. Following are Mallorca with 19.2 million passengers (+1.7%), Malaga with 15.3 million passengers (+7.8%), Alicante with 11.3 million passengers (+5.9%), and Gran Canaria with 9.2 million passengers (+5.2%).
