Saharan dust and even more extreme heat forecast

The first half of summer 2026 (June 1 to July 15) was the warmest on record in Spain.

ICON temperature forecast for Sunday, July 19, 2026
With an average temperature 3.3°C above the 1991–2020 average, it surpassed the same period in 2024 by 0.4°C and 2015 by 1°C. Virtually every summer day in 2026 so far has recorded above-average temperatures across Spain. There have been two significant heat waves, and temperatures could reach extreme levels again starting this weekend.

Along with the heat, even more Saharan dust from North Africa will arrive in Spain in the coming days.
