The live weather webcam looks out over Playa de Levante, the great city beach of Benidorm. In dense rows the blue sun umbrellas stand over the pale sand, and in front bathers splash in the shallow, turquoise water. Behind runs the palm-lined promenade, and above it rises the skyline of high-rises that has made Benidorm famous far and wide. Benidorm lies on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante and has the highest density of high-rises in Europe – which is why the city is often called the Manhattan of the Mediterranean. Playa de Levante stretches for around two kilometres to the Balcón del Mediterráneo, the viewpoint on the rock behind which Playa de Poniente begins. The mountain ranges at the city's back shelter it and provide an especially mild climate, which makes Benidorm a year-round destination for tourists from all over the world. Through the camera you can see how busy the beach is, how calm the sea is and what the weather is like on the Costa Blanca.
