About this webcam

The live weather webcam looks out over the Balcón de Europa, Nerja's famous viewing terrace, which sits on a rocky outcrop above the sea. Under the palms of the promenade visitors stroll across the plaza, and along the railing they line up to gaze at the Mediterranean. To the right the cliff drops steeply to a small cove, where people swim and snorkel among the rock pinnacles in the turquoise water; to the left the view runs along the coast to the mountains of the Sierra de Almijara. The Balcón de Europa is the emblem of Nerja: a semicircular terrace on the remains of an old fortress battery, high above the water. According to tradition the name goes back to King Alfonso XII, who visited the town in 1885 after the severe earthquake. On either side lie the town beaches Playa Calahonda and La Caletilla, surrounded by cafés, restaurants and the white lanes of the old town. Through the camera you can see what the weather is like on the eastern Costa del Sol, how busy the terrace is and how calm the sea is. Our weather station stands right at the Balcón de Europa and provides temperature, wind, gusts and air pressure in real time – and we also show the hourly forecast, the wave forecast and the tides. Ideal for planning a beach day, a boat trip or an evening stroll along the Balcón.
