About this webcam

The live weather webcam sits on the control tower of the Sotogrande marina and looks out over the harbour entrance onto the open sea. On the horizon rises the Rock of Gibraltar, and on clear days the silhouette of the African coast appears alongside it. In front of the camera, sailing boats and dinghies criss-cross the water. Sotogrande lies in the municipality of San Roque, just before the Strait of Gibraltar – and thus in one of the most fascinating weather corners of Spain: here the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet, and whether the Levante blows from the east or the Poniente from the west decides how the water runs. The place is known for its marina, the golf courses around Valderrama and the polo in summer. Through the camera you can see how clear the view across the strait is, whether Gibraltar stands out clearly or vanishes into the haze and how the sea is running in front of the harbour entrance. We also show the current readings from our weather station in the Port of Sotogrande – temperature, wind, gusts and air pressure in real time – along with the hourly forecast, the wave forecast and the tides. Especially for sailors, it's worth checking the waves, wind and gusts here before setting off.
