About this webcam

The live weather webcam looks out over the Pradollano-Río area in the Sierra Nevada ski resort. In the foreground stands the base station with its rental and service buildings, and above it the gondola cabins climb the slope. In winter the piste here lies under an unbroken blanket of snow; in summer the camera shows the bare, sun-scorched slopes, crossed by hikers and mountain bikers. Pradollano is the resort village at the foot of the ski area, at around 2,100 metres altitude. The Sierra Nevada is the highest ski resort in Spain and at the same time the southernmost in Europe; the season usually runs from late November into April, and in snowy years even into May. From Granada it is just over thirty kilometres uphill – close enough to combine snow and coast in a single day. Through the camera you can see what the conditions are like on the mountain: whether there's snow, how far the visibility reaches and whether clouds hang over the ridges. We also show the hourly forecast and current weather warnings for the Sierra Nevada – useful for planning a ski day, a hike or a mountain tour.
