The live weather webcam looks out over Playa Las Gaviotas, one of the broad city beaches of Fuengirola. In the foreground, straw parasols and loungers run in long, orderly rows across the pale sand, with bathers standing in the shallow water in front. Alongside, the Rey de España seafront promenade with its palms accompanies the beach, and the bay sweeps in a wide arc along the coast into the haze on the horizon. Fuengirola has one of the longest continuous stretches of beach on the Costa del Sol – around seven kilometres of sand, accompanied almost the whole way by the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España. The beach shelves gently and is fitted with showers, playgrounds, pedal-boat hire and chiringuitos, which makes it especially popular with families. Las Gaviotas sits centrally, within walking distance of the old town and the harbour.
