The live weather webcam looks out over Playa del Cable, one of the quieter city beaches of Marbella, onto the Mediterranean. The broad, pale sand here is usually far less crowded than the beaches further east: scattered sun umbrellas, loungers and strollers spread across the expanse. On the right a yellow beacon marks the water in front of the La Bajadilla fishing harbour, whose mole and buildings close off the edge of the frame. Playa del Cable – usually simply called El Cable – lies east of the city centre, between the seafront promenade and the harbour of La Bajadilla, where Marbella's fishing boats moor. From the Paseo Marítimo it's only a few minutes into the old town with its orange-tree squares; in the other direction beach follows beach all the way to Puerto Banús. Above the town rises the striking peak of La Concha in the Sierra Blanca, which shields Marbella from northerly winds and gives it a particularly mild climate.
