The live weather webcam at Hotel Yaramar looks out wide over the bay and coast of Fuengirola – a panorama of golden sand, a long shoreline and the open Mediterranean filling the horizon. Depending on the hour, morning light reflects off a calm sea, or the waves roll onto the sand in the wind; on clear days the Costa del Sol traces a fine line all the way to the distant mountain ranges. Fuengirola sits on the Costa del Sol southwest of Málaga, between Benalmádena and Mijas Costa, with the Sierra de Mijas rising behind it. Its almost eight kilometres of coast string beach after beach – from Los Boliches and Las Gaviotas past the port to Sohail Castle at the western end. The wide bay, open to the southeast, catches plenty of sun and a mild sea climate that makes Fuengirola one of the most popular beach destinations in the province – busy in summer, calm and open out of season.
